2 years old...

I know I posted about your party but I thought I should say a few things about you and your accomplishments at two. We are very proud of you and think you are the cutest and smartest thing ever. Inever imagined it would happen so fast one day you are a baby and the next you are a little man.

• you use a spoon and fork to eat with (very well I might add)
• you are always asking questions like "What did that lady say?" or "where does the airplanes go?"
• you are part of the way potty trained (the dirty part, if you catch my drift)
• you can say your alphabet and even love to get to the part at the end about "sing with me tooooooooo" at the top of your lungs
• you can count to 15! that seems crazy to me but you can, so smart
• you think belly buttons or as you call them tummy pits are hilarious
• you can't wait for the thank you Jesus part at the end of prayer
• you love to swim
• you love to do forward rolls with your cousin
• you like to pretend to work on cars just like daddy (to cute when you bend under every car and say "Daddy are you under there"
• you can take off all your clothes by yourself and insist upon doing it
• you wake up every morning and ask if you can go play at McKenzie's
• you love to GO! you don't really care where just not home
• your most favorite thing of all is to dance ( you get to going with those arms and legs, spin sometimes, try to imitate people on t.v.
  

Hudson's 2nd Birthday

We had a blast. The kids got to play and have cake. Hudson got some amazing gifts,thanks to everyone that came. He got so many great new toys and books. Hudson really liked the dinosaurs I hung up on the wall (thanks amy for your help). I can't believe he is 2!!

Local Airman...

Some of you may or may not have read about the young airman that was in an accident last week on the loop. He ran into the rear end of a backhoe that was exiting onto loop 306. This young man is our neighbor. There were a bunch of cars at there house last week and we didn't think anything about it. We actually thought maybe the wife had had her baby early and everyone one was there to visit. But Aaron and I found out from a friend of theirs that he had been in an accident. He has a four year old daughter and a baby coming in a month. Last we heard he is still in a coma. Please pray for this family, I can't even imagine what they are going through.

Jeep

My new 2009 Jeep Patriot!!! So excited to have something with some room and storage. It also has the 4x4 package to go offroading in colorado. Yeah!!

Birthday fun...

Can you believe it Hudson turns two in two weeks!! That sounds crazy to me, he should still be a baby but no he is going to officially be a preschooler (by baby magazines/websites) in two weeks. Well we are going to throw him a dinosaur birthday party. I can't wait. I love birthdays and I hope to instill that love in Hudson. It should be very cool, we are going to have dinosaur shadows on the wall, dino cake, dino games, dino prizes, the works. Fun Fun! Two....I can't believe it. I will be sure and post pics after the party.

While everyone is in town for his party, brad and Aaron are going to fix our shower. I will be so glad to have it back. A couple of weeks ago they ripped all the tile and shower unit off the walls and it was a huge mess. Now they are going to re-tile the shower and put in new faucets and a new shower head. The tile is really pretty and I can't wait to be able to use it again.

Home Sweet Home...for now

We are back and we had an amazing time. We got to go off roading in the jeep, shopping and spend quality family time together. At the condo where we stayed we saw two deer really close. They came from the neighbors yard and then came over to our back yard and took a nap. It was so neat for the kids to see them (through the glass door) right on the back porch. Three days later at like 6 pm we saw a 500 lbs. brown bear walking down the street and across our yard and into the woods. Needless to say we did not let the kids go anywhere by themselves. But we had such a fun time. This is the third year in a row we have gone to Colorado so we are talking about taking a year off next year and maybe going on a cruise. Yay!! I have never been on one and am so excited about the prospect. I am a little sad about Colorado but there is always the next year.

Colorado...

Well I have been getting laundry done and packing this week for our trip to Colorado. We are so excited to go because we have been seeing on the weather that it is like 68 degrees there during the day! I know that it is going to start getting cooler here but let's be realistic that won't happen for another couple of months and it is HOT. It will actually be nice to have to wear a jacket and after Hudson goes to bed, Aaron and I can snuggle by the fire place at the townhouse we are renting. We are staying in a town called Ouray and they are famous for their natural hot springs. Fun huh, us girls plan on spending alot of time there.

Memories...

Hudson and I spent last week in Houston and we had so much fun. I would love to live somewhere like that. At least a little sub-division anyway. They have five pools within walking distance of their house-five!! We went swimming everyday. Hudson loved it, he loves the water. We are glad to be home though we both really missed Aaron. But we have to leave again on Friday to go to Odessa. Oh-well at least I get Taco Villa. What I would really like to do is go cuddle Kylah's new baby boy. Doesn't he look cute enough to eat?

Seeing Kylah and the new baby together makes all the memories come flooding back to when Hudson was born. The smell of their hair, that newborn look all babies have that changes so quickly from one day to the next, the way sometimes only mommy can comfort them, not knowing what to expect from one second to the next. But one of the things that will forever be ingrained in my mind was Aaron holding Hudson for the first time and he looked down into that sweet face and said honestly "we have no idea how to take of you, but we love you and are going to do the best we can" my heart just melted again for that great big bear of a man that loves his tiny 7 lb baby. Anyway, if I don't stop I will cry.

Thoughts...

The rest of the year is going to be kind of a blur. Even so we are all so ready to go on vacations and get out of town. Hudson and I leave for Houston on Sat. and come back on the 16th. Hudson and I get a fun filled week of pool side sun (swimming for him), eating at trendy restaurants we have never tried before, and spending quality time with brad and barb. We always have such a great time there. I was thinking about it and Hudson has ridden on a plane to six places, that is crazy because he isn't even two yet. I didn't ride on an airplane until I was 18. He is actually very good onplanes and thinks they are very cool. Since we live near the base he sees alot of them go overhead and informs you every time. So cute.

I was reading Jenny's blog about how Grant is talking and she is so right. I think it is amazing how one minute hardly nothing just the occasional momma and dada and now Hudson is speaking in complete sentences. Seriously like a whole sentence and I can't believe it when he says "I don't want to" or "I anna see garden" or my personal favorite "Yuve You".

Speaking of Jenny, we took our family pics with her the other day and I can't wait to see them. The spot she took us to was so perfect. Yeah!!

Lately I am having these total missing my best friend moments. As some of you may know I am not the best at phone convos and returning peoples messages (I have never been a phone person) but lately I have this urge to pick up the phone and just talk about nothing. crazy. Anyway, Amy I am coming to Od on the 21st so hopefully we can get together and have lunch or something.

I really am at a loss for words. I love your families and I am glad most of this is now over and you guys can move on. You are in our prayers.

Tupperware!!

I am hosting a tupperware party tonight! I am so excited. If you read this and would like to come, feel free. Just email me and I can give you directions to the house. The party starts at 6:30 and we will have little desert apple pies and keish as well as chips and dips. Fun- I have actually never been to a tupperware party so it should be loads of fun. Kick your legs

This is just one of the funniest videos of Hudson. He is trying so hard to do everything McKenzie does. She lays down in the pool and kicks her legs behind her to practice swimming and this is Hudson's version of kicking you legs. I love how the one leg pumps and the other maintains balance. He got better and can now even put his face in the water and blow bubbles. But this is one of those videos I will look back on later.

Nothing New...

Not much going on in the Holms household yet. I say yet because in about two weeks I will be in a flurry to get all laundry done, pack for a week long trip tp North Dakota, and get the house clean. I always try to clean the house before we leave so we come to a clean house that we can relax in before Aaron has to go to work the next Monday. Did I mention that parts of ND are still getting snow? Yeah as of last weekend Minot got 2 inches--crazy!! It should be an adventure!

Anniversary....#6

A couple days late in posting but Aaron and I celebrated our 6th anniversary on Sunday. Isn't that crazy. It really doesn't feel like it has been that long. Time flies when you have kids. I think that is the reason it doesn't feel like it's been years 6, is because for the last two years Hudson has been around and you tend to focus on them more. We had a picnic , the three of us, and had a great day at the park then went out to eat. I love my two men. They are so cute, and people say Hudson looks like me until the two of them get together and it really is like Aaron has a mini me!!

Bad News...

I just realized this morning that the date of Kylah's baby shower is the day we fly out of Dallas to go to North Dakota. I am terribly saddened by this news. Well, I know she will have a great day and everyone will shower her with love. Jo- if you read this I am sorry I will not be able to be there. If I could change the trip I would. I can't wait for this little guy to be here and meet him. Love Ya.

Nothing and Everything in Particular...

• We have been to the park three times this week (I think that maybe some record)
• Kylah's shower is going to be awesome (Sarah, Jenny, and Crystal are such creavtive people )I can't wait!
• one more week and the three of us go to OD to take family photos with my family
• My family hasn't taken pics since "96! Isn't that crazy?
• the next weekend Hudson and I head back to OD for Angela's graduation
• Yes I am fully aware I get two weekends to eat Taco Villa (green is not a good color on you;))
• One thing for sure when we go to Odessa I get to see Amy! I can't wait!!
• before we leave I have to make sure the house is spotless because when we get back my in-laws will already be here.
• They are staying for a week! YAY!! They are so much fun.
• Then two weeks later we head off to North Dakota for a week to visit Aaron's grandparents
• They still have snow on the ground there, did I mention I hate cold weather, but Hudson's never been so it should be fun.
• Summer is always crazy busy at our house, but it seems like we won't see much of home this year-oh well we will be grateful to be back home I'm sure.

Tea...

The tea party at the church was a huge success. I just love seeing everyone's beautiful tables and all there decorations and favors. I decorated a table this year to get some experience but next year I am going to decorate and host a table with my family and friends. I am way excited and already trying to think of things to do! Sarah and DeLana's table look really pretty and the food was good too.The tea would have been even better if I hadn't ad to leave early and go to a birthday party. But the birthday boy is almost like a cousin to Hudson and he was so cute opening presents with chubby one year old hands. Plus Hudson loved helping him play with his new toys. All in all it was a very busy four hours but well worth it. And on Sunday we got most of our backyard finished. We are just waiting on the grass lady now.

Update on the backyard

The backyard is come to a stand still. It really drives me crazy to have to wait on other people to get projects done. Friday the curb guy comes and lays the curbing around the would be flower bed. Then we can figure exactly how many pavers for the space for the bar-b-que grill. I will take the truck to lowes seconds after the curb guys leave. They were suppose to come last week and had to cancel and then Wed, but the rain prevented them from doing it. Once the pavers are in palce I have the grass lady on stand by to come and spray the grass seeds in on Tuesday. Then finally we will have a backyard not one giant mud pit. One thing I am very excited about is a raised white cedar garden bed I oredered and should be arriving on friday. How much fun is it going to be for Hudson and I to have a vegie garden? I can't wait. We plan on planting squash, beans, strawberries, carrots, and I hope to plant a pumpkin so by Halloween Hudson can decorate his own pumpkin he helped grow! We will see how it goes, because we also have to throw in two birthday parties and a mother's tea into the mix. Should make for an interesting weekend.

Aaron is out of town for work and he will be home tomorrow,Yeah!! I really miss him and I know Hudson does too.

Babies on the brain....

I hosted a baby shower for my old bosses daughter today and it was so much fun!! Now I am in the baby mood (not for myself), so now I must buy for baby Jackson! I can't wait to get in on the shower plans and dive right in. Babies are very cute but there is something about a new mom that warms the heart. You can already see how much they love the baby without even meeting it yet. Jo- you may be in for it. I might just go buy every baby thing I see.

Silly Bunny

It was more fun than we could ever have imagined. All three of the kids really loved it and Hudson and McKenzie thought hunting for Easter eggs was the greatest thing ever. Uncle Nick even hopped behind the fence with ears on and the kids saw the "easter bunny". McKenzie said "oh my that Easter bunny is big, can I scream at him?" Here are some pics of the kids and I'm not sure you can tell but our two big easter bunnies got a little carried away and hid some on the room and camo eggs in the rocks. Even the adults had trouble finding them. The bunnies thought it was hilarious. Nick went as far as digging a hole and burying eggs for Kenzie. She thought it was the greatest and looked right into the camera and said "Silly Bunny". So cute. I tried to post pics from photobucket but it doesn't seem to be working. More later.

HELP

I have no idea how to move the "the cutest blog on the block" logo. It blocks the posting and I can't seem to change the pink behind Hudson's pic. All you blog savvy people out there can surely save me. HELP!!!

We had such a blast at Kylah's. I can't wait to do it again sometime soon. And after shopping for baby Jackson (you heard me right Kylah I said Jackson) I am even more excited to meet him. After we got back I realized the I will have17 people eating over here on Sunday and my house was a disaster after having left my husband to his own devices all week. Now I am scrambling like a crazy person trying to mark things off my to-do list. Easter is almost here and I can't wait. We are all going to our own respective churches and then meet up for a big lunch and then we will watch the kids hunt eggs. How fun!! I will definitely post pics later. In case I don't post until after the holiday I hope everyone has a blessed Easter.

We are here in San Antonio with our wonderful friend--JO!! Already we are having a blast and we haven't done anything except eat Taco Villa. Yes, All of you out there that love Taco Villa. Amy brought us some from Odessa and even though it was a 5 hour drive they tasted wonderful.

Houston

Hudson and I are in Houston this week with my wonderful in-laws. I don't really like even calling them in-laws because that has such a negative connotation to it and I really love them. They are seriously so wonderful to us. We even go on vacation every year with them. Anyway, this afternoon we went to downtown Houston and walk the art festival. So FUN!! So much to see and there were even some inexpensive art to buy. I bought a fancy spoon for my hot teas and a wine bottle stopper. As the week winds on I will update on all the fun we are having here, but the whole reason we are her is at the end of the week we are going to go through San Antonio to visit Kylah Jo. How exciting, this is shaping up to be a one of the greatest weeks of the year.

A back yard to call home...

Finally Aaron and I are going to start working on having a presentable back yard. I mean we have only lived here for five years this Sept. We have put it off and put it off and now we are to the point that we have to do it. Poor Hudson can not roam free around the front (obvious reasons like traffic) and I am constantly telling him to slow down because our front slopes so much he trips face first into the dirt. I am one of those people (and luckily Aaron is to) that when we get an idea and plan it all has to be done quickly and right, right now. Picture a shed for lawn equipment, a rock bed for Hudson to play in, a small veggie garden for Hudson and I to work, and grass. Throw in Hudson's kiddie picnic table and turtle sandbox and we are going to have a great summer! Not to mention that my back patio will be cleared off and I will actually be able to enjoy the outdoor furniture I bought last year. Nothing sounds cozier than sitting on the love seat, drinking hot tea late in the evening before bed.

Random thoughts...

I am not going to give anything away but I must say that I am so excited about Sessie. I can't wait to start shopping. Knowing Kylah as long as I have it is amazing to go through all of our life changing moments together. Kylah I just wanted to say how much I love you and I am so happy for you and Michael.

My mom and sisters came in for the day and we went shopping for Angela's (youngest sister) prom dress. She found an awesome dress at Korona's. She is graduating high school this May. How old does that make me you might ask. Let's put it this way when I went off to college she was going into the 5th grade!! Yikes!

We went to the doctor today to get Hudson checked out because he ran a fever all weekend and has been swallowing really hard. They said he was fine, no red throat, no ear infection, nothing. I am very relieved but what is up with the fever. And today he is acting fine, oh well.

Great things to come

Well we made it to Odessa, anyway. Long story about the whole cousin thing, but the important part is that we went to Odessa and got to see Mamaw, Popo, Aunt Stephy and Aunt Angie. We are so excited because angela is going to come to San Angelo next year to go to college. Yeah!! And Stephy is getting married next spring break in vegas. Mom and her are doing all the planning for the wedding.

Angela is graduating from OHS is May. That makes me as well as a few others (you know who you are) feel really old. Not to mention that next May is our ten year reunion.:( !I have been out of college longer than I was in. This little trip down memory lane has now officially depressed me.

Buddies

We have Grant here with us today because Seph's house is still feeling under the weather. Grant and Hudson are really very cute together. They have moments were they don't like to share but what can you say they are just being 1 year olds. But then you have amazing moments like the game they were playing earlier and I had to try to capture it. If you can't tell they are running up to me and giving hugs and then running back to the front door. They must have done it 30 times and then they both needed a sippy cup break. So Cute!!

Bummer

I got super excited about going to OD this weekend only to find out at the last minute that my cousin from Midland is coming here to see us. So now we are going to OD next weekend and I am making Michael bring me Taco Villa on their way here. Michael has a great wife who I adore and two really cute/cool kids. The oldest one, Jae Karson is 6 and another Blade is almost three. So maybe Hudson can show off his toys and play with someone new. Maybe we will go to the park and.... what else is there to do here? I guess we will find something to do.
We haven't seen them since Thanksgiving so it should be fun.

Odessa

I don't know about everyone else but I really love Seph's Fridays favorite things. I am also now addicted to Etsy! If you haven't been you need to. If not to buy then for ideas. I already got great ones for Hudson's b-day and that isn't until Oct.( but you know me I tend to go overboard on the planning ahead).

Hudson and I are going to Odessa this weekend to visit my family. I can't wait to see them. They are not going to believe how big Hudson has gotten. I can't believe it and I am around him all day. He now understands most things you say to him. He also has the most infectious laugh and smile. Also a plus to the trip is Amy and Alex and their new surprise(no baby, yet ;)) I can't wait to see it. But most important and all you ex-Odessians know is Taco Villa. I get the same thing every time but I am addicted. A true addiction, every time I go to OD I eat there at least twice if not three times a weekend! Yum!!

Also I am way pumped about Crystal's party on Friday. Should be fun and Aaron is doing daddy duty so I get to go solo.

Perks of being a stay at home mom...

Kendra and I just decided to treat ourselves today and go out for lunch. We do not do this very often and so we did it up. We ate Johnny Carino's,Yummy!! And since it was lunch there was hardly anyone there so we didn't care if everyone heard our kids occasional cry. Very Nice.

So I told you about my accident and today I took my lovely fast car into the shop and got the slowest rental car ever. A PT Cruiser. I like the PT and all but after driving my car for so long and the fact that my car is really fast (thanks to my husband) I really miss it. But don't tell him that ;). He seems like he is always working on it to make it better and I complain but now I get it. Slow is awful. And it isn't like I speed I would just like to get to the speed limit faster. If that makes since (it does in my world with a husband with 3 suped up cars).

After Hudson gets up from his nap I am going to try and finally go to Hobby Lobby. Cadillacs better stay out of my way!!

Wham!!

Hudson and I were bored today and I needed some things from Hobby Lobby (one of my favorite stores) so we loaded up at 3:30 and headed out. We were on Southwest going toward HL crossing over sunset when I see a giant cadillac out of my peripheral. Wham!! We had a green light and she ran a red light and I mean it was red for a while. She was also like 85. I am all for elderly driving but I wish Texas would make them take a driving and eye exam every year after a certain year. The actual accident wasn't bad and Hudson was OK because I saw her coming and slammed on my brakes. But my car still has to go to the shop and I will have to drive a rental. Needless to say we never made it to HL and that is what really ticked me off about the whole thing.

Besides that is anyone else Allergies/Sinuses are driving them crazy. Some days my nose is runny and other days my nose is stopped up. Only in West Texas.

Missing my Friends

I talked to Amy yesterday and after I got off I started to realize how much I miss my friends. But most of all her. When she lived here I think I took her for granted (sorry Aim) and now she has lived back home in OD for what seems like forever now. I miss the fact that If I wanted to hang out I could just go over. I know now that she is married and I have Hudson that I probably couldn't pop over like I used to but still. We talked about going to visit Kylah in late April and now I hope we really do. I will get to be with my two oldest friends that I miss like crazy!!

Splat!!!

Yesterday evening Hudson was running around like his normal self and then I heard it... Splat! Iwas on the phone with DeLana and told her I would have to call her back becuse Hudson just got sick all over the rug. And I am not talking a little sick I mean got sick all over the place. It is wierd though that If anyone else was to get sick in front of me I would automatically get sick also. But I didn't even bat an eye with Hudson. Anyway today he seems a little sick but no fever and no more getting sick, I'm sure this will happen a few hundred times in our lifetimes but It was a little disconcerting since it was the first time.

In other news I am way excited because I get my new couch in tomorrow. I painted the giant living room/kitchen/dining room/hallways a few weeks ago and it didn't go. Plus our couches were really old and looked it.blah So I got a leather/ fabric combo couch and can't wait to get it.

Boy-O-Boy Did I get a Massage

Aaron got me a gift certificate for Valentine's Day to the Waterford Spa. I called and scheduled a seaweed wrap (because I had never had one and wanted to try it out) and a deep tissue massage( because I needed one). The wrap was ok but if you are at all claustrophobic DO NOT DO THIS. Any way after that was the massage and she worked on my neck and upper back for almost the entire hour. She said and I qoute "You are like a train wreck back here, I don't know how you haven't been hurting". Well I had been but not to bad and you just chalk it up to picking up a 23 lbs. 16 month old all day long. After she was done she gave me the speech about drinking a lot of water. I have been drinking water and I am the sorest I have ever been. OUCH!!!

"No"

This is why I am a little skeptical of the whole blog thing,because I don't have much to say. Hudson definatly has the word "no" down really well. It is really starting to get on my nerves. Today all of our oriental trading order came in for Easter. I am so excited about this upcoming holiday. It is my favorite.Yeah!!

Hudson and Iwent to the park this morning. We always have such a good time ,but this morning it was great because we were the only ones there. No big kids to push us around and we could play on anything he wanted.

In other news ...I feel like I am drowning in the scrapbooking world, there are so many cool tools out there that I don't have and I am just now scrapbooking Hudson's first haircut! That was back in July. It doesn't feel like I'll ever get caught up. This is also not including the fact that I am two colorado vacations behind and Amy's wedding (which I want done to perfection) I guess I better go get a page done while he is sleeping.

I am a little skeptical about blogging but I thought I would give it a shot for those who would like to see pics of Hudson. Don't get me wrong I love to read them (I have several I read daily)but can I really keep up a continuous dialogue on a day to day basis. And will anyone except Amy even care to read it. Well here goes nothing.
